Any Questions? - GB+VX (1991)

In January 1991, shortly after the start of the first Gulf War, we were very prolific with our musical output.  The deluge of 24/7 war footage and chemically-fueled all night recording sessions garnered many new song ideas.

Though many of those ideas never progressed further than the cassettes they were recorded on, a few like this one, GB+VX, ended up being produced more and recorded on our Tascam 38 1/2" 8-track reel-to-reel machine.

This one started out simply with a very repetitive drum beat and synth parts.  After adding a round of Gulf War audio samples, MC2P4 delivered his apocalyptic vocals and then I spent the rest of the night (and into the morning) recording multiple effected, electric bass parts before mixing the final song that we share with you now.

Enjoy...

P.S.  This photo was taken on 11/24/90 at the very first Any Questions? live performance.

Is that Geddy Lee (Rush)?

Obviously influenced by Geddy Lee (Rush) in more ways than one, I should have known better than to follow his fashion.  This photo was taken at the Shippensburg Area Senior High School (SASHS) Mid Winter Concert on 02/02/87.

Featured in this photo are (L-R) Donny Ernakovich - Percussion and Matt Norcross - Electric Bass.

Imbued Vagary - Rehearsal

On 06/02/12, Imbued Vagary gathered at Floating Fish Studios to begin preparing for our performance at SHAPE Solstice Arts Festival 2012.  We weren't entirely sure what we were going to do for the show so we set up our gear and started improvising.

Special thanks to Kimberly Scott for capturing this 4+ minute raw, unedited video excerpt from our rehearsal.

FFS Synth Jam 2012 - The Sprawling TR-2

In our second foray into the electronic plasma pool during FFS Synth Jam 2012 on 11/24/12 came this sprawling 16+ minute audio sculpture titled TR-2.  It has been said that we like to do things "over and over, again and again".  This track exemplifies that to the fullest.  Oh well, it was fun and we weren't ready to stop!

The ensemble for this track included Tim Harrell (aka LTJTHC) - electronic drums, Dave Chandler (aka Thee Sub One Genius) - rhythmic architectures and synthetics, Matt Norcross (aka Ttam Troll) - synthesizers, Stephen Saputelli (aka Steve O Klock) - synthesizers, and, at about the 10 minute mark, M Scott McConnell (aka MC2P4) - synthesizers joins us.

Enjoy!

Special thanks to Kim Scott for helping me finish this portion of the full install.

This Mistress 2013 Reunion???

2013 marks both the 25th Anniversary of This Mistress (shown here with original line up) and my graduation from Shippensburg Area Senior High School. In honor of both of these events, I'm contemplating the idea of a This Mistress reunion show at the 2013 SHAPE Solstice Arts Festival and, if it happens, maybe even the possibility of a performance at the SASHS Class of 1988 reunion.

If you are interested in either of these events becoming a reality, post a comment.

This raw unedited video footage captured part of the audio warfare. The quality is questionable but it gives you a chance to see how an improv transforms into a song. You also get to see Jackey and Mazie. Fun for everyone!

This improv was titled TR-4.

New Equipment at FFS

After almost 3 years in the new studio, Floating Fish Studios adds a washer and dryer to it's equipment list. No more trips to Solar Wash, my parents' house, or having my wonderful fiancé, Kimberly Scott, help me with laundry.

Remembering Miranda

Today would have been my littlest friend's 20th birthday. Though she plays at Rainbow Bridge now, I know she'd still love to hear me sing her favorite little song...

It's February number two
Happy Birthday from me to you
Happy Birthday Miranda!
