Today would have been my littlest friend's 21st birthday. Though she plays at Rainbow Bridge now, I know she'd still love to hear me sing her favorite little song...
In January 1991, shortly after the start of the first Gulf War, we were very prolific with our musical output. The deluge of 24/7 war footage and chemically-fueled all night recording sessions garnered many new song ideas. Though many of those ideas never progressed further than the cassettes they were recorded on, a few like this one, GB+VX, ended up being produced more and recorded on our Tascam 38 1/2" 8-track reel-to-reel machine. This one started out simply with a very repetitive drum beat and synth parts. After adding a round of Gulf War audio samples, MC2P4 delivered his apocalyptic vocals and then I spent the rest of the night (and into the morning) recording multiple effected, electric bass parts before mixing the final song that we share with you now. Enjoy... P.S. This photo was taken on 11/24/90 at the very first Any Questions? live performance.
Obviously influenced by Geddy Lee (Rush) in more ways than one, I should have known better than to follow his fashion. This photo was taken at the Shippensburg Area Senior High School (SASHS) Mid Winter Concert on 02/02/87. Featured in this photo are (L-R) Donny Ernakovich - Percussion and Matt Norcross - Electric Bass.
In our second foray into the electronic plasma pool during FFS Synth Jam 2012 on 11/24/12 came this sprawling 16+ minute audio sculpture titled TR-2. It has been said that we like to do things "over and over, again and again". This track exemplifies that to the fullest. Oh well, it was fun and we weren't ready to stop! The ensemble for this track included Tim Harrell (aka LTJTHC) - electronic drums, Dave Chandler (aka Thee Sub One Genius) - rhythmic architectures and synthetics, Matt Norcross (aka Ttam Troll) - synthesizers, Stephen Saputelli (aka Steve O Klock) - synthesizers, and, at about the 10 minute mark, M Scott McConnell (aka MC2P4) - synthesizers joins us. Enjoy!
After taking the stage at the SHAPE Solstice Arts Festival, Imbued Vagary invaded the gallery scene with a performance at SHAPE Gallery's 10th Annual Abstract Exhibit opening reception in Shippensburg, PA on 09.07.12. The band line up for this performance included Ttam Troll - Synthesizers, MC2P4 - Synthesizers, and Thee Sub One Genius - Beat Architecture and Synthesizers. This raw, unedited live excerpt is titled LV-1.
This was the first time since 02/20/10 where all original FFS Synth Jam members convened and we wasted no time diving deep into the electronic plasma pool. The ensemble gathered for this session included (from L to R) Tim Harrell (aka LTJTHC), Dave Chandler (aka Thee Sub One Genius), Matt Norcross (aka Ttam Troll), Stephen Saputelli (aka Steve O Klock), and, not shown, M Scott McConnell (aka MC2P4). The first audio to surface from the inaugural FFS Synth Jam 2012 is this improvisation titled TR-1.
