MC2P4 and the Pagans

Saturday night, Scott (aka MC2P4) and I went to the Barto Hotel to see Tim (aka LTJTHC) and Chad play a gig with their band, 9919. What started out as an innocent evening of fun quickly turned ugly.

The place turned out to be a biker bar. As we arrived, I jokingly commented that it wasn't going to be a good scene and, unfortunately, my premonition turned out to be true. While hanging around the bar, I was talking with Scott, Tim, and Chad. Tim and Chad left so they could begin their second set and Scott and I continued to talk.

At this time, Scott noticed an arcade game in one corner of the bar and started to look over in that direction trying to see what it was. While he was doing this, he apparently caught the eye of a Pagan biker who thought he was staring at him. Unbeknownst to me that this occurred, I left to go check out the band while Scott walked over to see what the arcade game was.

What transpired after our split is a bit foggy. A confrontation between MC2P4 and the Pagan biker ensued. Luckily, MC2P4 escaped without harm but, needless to say, it's a night he won't soon forget.

This Mistress - Back In The Basement

In this video, This Mistress performs Misty Mountain Hop by Led Zeppelin. It's another "classic" performance captured during Matt Skirpan's birthday party held at Tim Harrell's house in Shippensburg, PA on 07/23/88.

At this point during the party, Matt "Birthday Boy" Skirpan had returned with his guitar and joined the rest of the band... Ken Chandler - Vocals, Kevin "Bart the Fart" Wilson - Guitar, Scott McConnell - Synthesizer, Matt Norcross - Bass, and Tim Harrell - Drums.

Other well known Shippensburg natives and alumni appearing in this clip include Jim Dewey, Rhonda Laughman, Jamie Lovell, and Beth Lynn.

As usual, Steve Olsen was manning the video camcorder and recorded this performance.

Integration Sessions 2005 Part 2

On 09/25/05, we (Any Questions?) continued work at the old Floating Fish Studios on our new release, tentatively entitled Integration. Most of this day was spent working on a song idea titled In Dreams.

The genesis for this song had started a few weeks prior in a session where I recorded the basic structure which consisted of the Korg DW-8000 synth bass lines, Korg MS-2000 synth wash, and drum programming.

On the day of the 09/25/05 session, MC2P4 and LTJTHC joined me in the studio and we went about further expanding the song. We muted the original drum programming parts and turned on the click track so LTJTHC could improvise his drum parts without being locked into any of my initial drum sequences. MC2P4 added Korg Z1 lead lines, and I provided E-MU ESI-32 sample playing.

We set up a stationary camcorder to capture video and recorded the live improv audio direct to 2-track CD-R as well as capturing it as MIDI data so we could go back later and edit/manipulate the performances as needed.

This "out of focus" video is the raw footage of one of the live improv takes that we recorded that day.
